Terms and Conditions

1. Payment Terms

• Payment for equine and occasional canine appointments is due on the day of treatment or care, by cash or bank transfer.

• Regular day care clients may be invoiced monthly on a case by case basis, with payment due within seven days.

• For dog boarding, a 25% non-refundable deposit is payable within 14 days of booking. The remaining balance is due on collection of the dog.

2. Cancellation Policy

Equine Bowen Therapy

• A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule.

• Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full treatment cost.

Dog Day Care and Dog Walking

• Cancellations must be made by 7.00pm the night before.

• Later cancellations will be charged at 50% of the service cost.

Dog Boarding

• Cancellations require a minimum of two weeks’ notice.

• The 25% deposit is non-refundable.

• Late cancellations (less than 14 days before the start date) may be charged at Kerry’s discretion.

3. Equine Bowen Therapy Requirements

Veterinary Consent

• Bowen Therapy is a complementary therapy and not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

• Horses may only be treated with the owner’s confirmation of veterinary consent, in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.

Before Your Appointment

• Horses must be dry and free from excessive mud or sweat.

• Avoid giving a hard feed immediately before treatment.

• Moderate exercise beforehand is acceptable as long as the horse has cooled and dried.

Aftercare

• Horses typically require two days of rest following treatment to get the best results.

• Turnout is recommended to support natural movement and recovery.

• Avoid tight schooling or intensive exercise for four days after treatment.

4. Dog Care Requirements

Vaccinations and Parasite Control

• All dogs must be fully vaccinated and on a veterinary-approved parasite control programme.

• Proof may be requested at any time.

Behaviour and Safety

• Dogs must be non-aggressive towards people and other dogs.

• Dogs with significant separation anxiety may only be accepted by prior arrangement.

• Kerry reserves the right to refuse or discontinue care if a dog poses a safety risk.

Exercise and Enrichment

• Day care dogs receive two walks per day unless otherwise agreed.

• Boarding dogs enjoy two walks a day, plus a calm, home-based environment with rest areas, outdoor time, and enrichment as appropriate.

Travel Safety

• Dogs are transported in individual, secured crates.

• Dogs are never left in the vehicle except briefly when safe to do so, and never in hot conditions.

Food, Bedding and Medication

• Owners should provide their dog’s usual food to avoid digestive upset.

• Bedding can be provided, but familiar items are encouraged for boarding.

• Kerry can administer simple medication but cannot accept dogs with complex medical needs.

5. Owner Responsibilities

Owners agree to:

• Provide accurate information about their animal’s health, behaviour and needs.

• Inform Kerry of any injuries, illnesses or veterinary instructions.

• Ensure dogs arrive with a collar and ID tag, as required by law.

• Present horses and dogs in a safe, manageable condition.

6. Liability

• While every effort is made to ensure the safety and wellbeing of animals in Kerry’s care, owners accept that animals may behave unpredictably.

• Kerry cannot be held responsible for injury, loss or damage beyond her control.

• Owners remain responsible for any veterinary fees that arise during or following treatment or care.

7. Privacy and Data Use

• Contact information is used solely for managing bookings and client communication.

• Personal data is handled in accordance with Kerry’s Privacy Policy.

8. Agreement to Terms

By booking a service with Capable Hands, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
